Course Overview

This course include CPD certification and five NTU undergraduate credits upon successful completion of assessment.The course is taught at Level 4 – which is equivalent to first year undergraduate degree course.An A-Level Grade 3 or above is desirable in a subject linked to the construction sector or previous experience in the sector.

Course Detail

Throughout this course, you will:

1. Gain insight into the correlation between construction technology and building defects.
2. Explore various deterioration mechanisms, distinguishing between deformation and failure.
3. Examine the principles of inspections and their application.
4. Develop problem-solving skills and utilize pathology processes effectively.
5. Plan investigations using modern technology such as moisture meters, endoscopes, thermal imaging cameras, and drones.
6. Learn the art of crafting comprehensive reports based on your findings.

Additionally, you will delve into remedial actions concerning key structural elements of domestic and residential dwellings, including:

  • Foundations and floors
  • Drainage systems and basements
  • External and internal walls, including cladding
  • Management of dampness and condensation
  • Various types of floors, from ground to first floor, solid to suspended timber
  • Roofs, encompassing both pitched and flat structures
  • Concrete and asbestos materials.

Eligibity Criteria

There are some requirments :
  • GCSE Maths or International equivalent, minimum grade 4 (C) or above.
  • GCSE English or international equivalent minimum grade 4 (C) or above.
No software experience is required, although you should be confident in saving files and basic computer functions. This course is open to professionals at any stage of their career. Successful completion of the Introduction to AutoCAD course or thorough knowledge of the subjects covered therein will be a sufficient level to start this course.

On the course, you will:
